Diary, 1847-1893 [microform] / Ed and Archelaus Hughes.

Diary kept by both Ed and Archelaus Hughes during the period of 1847-1893. The first part consists of Ed Hughes' writings, containing why he decided to keep a journal; a list of books in his library; his family background; copies of letters, poetry and various other items. The second part was kept by Archelaus Hughes, and contains information such as promissory notes; copies of deeds, ledgers, and daily information such as weather; comments on Lee's and Grant's progress in the Civil War; Archelaus' experiences in the Confederate Army and descriptions of Confederate Army life.
